Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat assumed charge as Deputy Commissioner, District Magistrate and District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, on 26 February 2026 under Government Order No. 230-JK(GAD) of 2026, dated 20 February 2026, succeeding Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, IAS. Work to date includes the 100-day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan launched on 11 April 2026, the launch of Census-2027 self-enumeration on 17 May 2026 as Principal Census Officer, arrangements for the Pahalgam axis of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 including the flag-off from Nunwan on 3 July, an HPV vaccination campaign for about 11,000 girls across 14 centres, public darbars at Shangus, Dooru, Srigufwara and Verinag, and a land-records drive that approved 89% of backlog mutations by May 2026.
