The Challenge
Heavy rain in early September 2025 flooded the Shaliganga and damaged the Panzan bridge and surrounding areas of Budgam district.
The Intervention
Inspection of the damaged Panzan bridge, relief and restoration meetings, a briefing to the Inter-Ministerial Central Team assessing the damage, and sanction of Rs 71.25 lakh for the Panzan bridge restoration.
Implementation
Restoration works through the district's engineering departments; a temporary Bailey bridge at Chadoora in December 2025 to restore connectivity while permanent works continued.
Outcome
Connectivity restored through the temporary bridge; restoration sanctioned. The Central team's assessment and the district's relief measures were reported in the press.
